All horses that were sold in sale ring could walk easily and had good mobility. They were either through the sale ring with a halter or ridden. None of the goosenecks stalls and all horses were tied in the trailer with a lead rope and halter. A report will provide further information on the horse slaughter industry.

Fighting was a major cause of injuries transport and marketing. Closure of these plants will result in horses being transported to Mexico where there is little or no of animal welfare standards. Horses at the New Holland sale were handled very well. A trailer is designed to be pulled by a pickup. When horses are mixed they should be carefully observed.
